Ticket to Ride: RMR and City of Revelstoke Encourage You to Discover the Bus
Imagine pulling up to your favourite ski resort, not having to find parking, and being able to walk the shortest distance possible to the lifts.
Imagine pulling up to your favourite ski resort, not having to find parking, and being able to walk the shortest distance possible to the lifts. Sounds like rockstar privileges, but actually, all you have to do is take the bus.
In a bid to get more cars off the road, reduce pollution, and alleviate parking headaches, last season RMR merged its resort shuttle with the City of Revelstoke’s transit service in an industry-leading initiative that created a wider, more frequent, and much more reliable municipal transit system.
The expanded service is one that few towns the size of Revelstoke have, and is a major step forward in improving the community’s livability.
“We're a leader in this for small communities,” says Steve Bailey, RMR’s director of skier services and base area operations. “There are a lot of municipalities and resort communities out there that are quite envious. And I know all those in the ski industry are watching this closely.”

With three routes that span the Big Eddie, Johnson Heights and the Queen Victoria Hospital in Arrow Heights, you can get to and from anywhere in town by comfy, warm, frequent service for a mere $2 a ride, or $45 a month. That’s a huge boon for locals, workers, and visitors, with the cost of driving these days. It’s also a big win for the City of Revelstoke, which has ambitious aims to cut its carbon footprint in the years ahead.
Since the new transit system launched on December 01, 2023, bus stops have been bustling around Revelstoke, and ridership has been steadily increasing. Which is good news all around.
Study after study shows that the best towns in the world all have one thing in common: great transit. But if you’re still not convinced, consider that Whistler has long had a bus service that everyone local ski bums to millionaires uses, helping produce a 91 percent score for satisfaction of living amongst residents.

In that light, Revelstoke is poised to enter a phase of thoughtful growth where the best powder in the world will eventually be serviced by the best transit.
The writing is on the walls. Skip the parking lots, après longer, save a few bucks, and live a little better. All you have to do is ride the bus.
