Revelstoke Outdoor Art Movement (ROAM)
Have you heard of the Revelstoke Outdoor Art Movement (ROAM)? Hidden within the boundaries of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, ROAM’s installations aren’t marked on any map. There’s no website, no official trail, no guided tour. It’s just you, your curiosity, and the ski trails leading the way.
ROAM transforms the mountain into a canvas. Whether it’s old goggle lenses repurposed into sculpture, a snowboard reborn as a piece of art, or a tribute to a world-famous painting crafted from ski gear, every piece is rooted in ski history waiting to be discovered.
Many of the materials used in the installations come from the very elements, and the people that define the ski and bike culture of Revelstoke—old skis, snowboards, climbing skins, ski goggles, boots, bike tires, and even retired boot tongues.
One of ROAM’s standout exhibits is The Masterpiste Gallery—a collection of 22 pieces crafted from recycled skis and snowboards. Each piece pays homage to some of the world’s most famous paintings, offering a unique blend of creativity and sustainability. Imagine skiing past a rendition of Vincent Van Snow’s Self Portrait or Leonardo Da Vinski’s Mona Skisa, each given a new life through the lens of mountain culture.
ROAM isn’t just about art; it’s about community. The collective represents the work of many local artists, who together have placed nearly 60 incredible pieces throughout 15 locations on the mountain.
ROAM has captured the attention of visitors from around the world, ranging from local school groups to ski media and journalists from Forbes, National Geographic, The Weather Network, and more. As word continues to spread, the movement remains true to its mission of inspiring engagement, discovery, and a deeper connection to art, nature, and adventure.
Much like an untouched powder stash, ROAM’s art is there for those who seek it. Take a new run, ask someone on the chairlift, or simply let curiosity guide you. Be sure to keep your eyes open, there are surprises at every turn.
