Breaking Trail: Summer Update
Momentum continues on our major projects around the Resort. Our team will be working hard throughout the summer to complete and move forward on projects that will improve the visitor experience. We are thrilled to see the completion of many projects over the past few months and are equally excited to see many major projects start to take shape. Read below for progress reports and future plans at the Resort.
Bike Trail Network Expansion/Rebuilds
Our trails are in top condition thanks to our dedicated team of talented trail builders. We are excited to reopen the 5620 Aspen Glades zone after an extensive rebuild. Our team have spent countless hours perfecting this portion of the trail to provide riders with the ultimate flow trail from top to bottom.
We are also excited to open Sidewinder, a fun black tech trail located in the middle of the upper mountain. Riders can expect a mix of roots, slabs, and wood features, making this a great option for riders looking for a challenge.
Suspension Bridge
We are excited to be adding a new summer attraction to our existing lineup: a suspension bridge and viewing deck. We are currently finalizing the concept, with construction beginning this summer and an anticipated opening for summer 2025. This attraction will be located just off the top of the Revelation Gondola and will offer visitors an unparalleled experience, combining thrilling heights with spectacular views, ensuring a unique and memorable experience for resort guests.
Camozzi Road Realignment
We are well on our way with the Camozzi Road realignment project. The road is currently under construction and closed to traffic for realignment with the existing roundabout opposite Mackenzie Village. During the construction residents and visitors heading to Revelstoke Mountain Resort will be rerouted along Airport Way. This detour will deliver traffic to the south side of the resort and our main parking lots. The reroute will be in effect until November 15, 2024.
Upon completion, the Camozzi Road reroute will provide enhanced resort access, upgraded water and sanitary services to Mountain Road, and a new multi-use pathway to accommodate foot traffic and bike access, ensuring safer and more convenient access to the resort for pedestrians and cyclists.
Raven Townhomes
We are excited to share that phase one of our townhouse development project, Raven Townhomes, at 1210 Douglas Street has hit the market. This phase includes 4 buildings and 26 units which are available for purchase with an expected move-in date in fall of 2024.
Phase two will add five additional townhouse units to the project for a total of 31 units available for purchase. If permitting, construction, and supply chain remain on schedule, phase two is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2025.
Parking
Main parking for the Resort has shifted to the south side to accommodate the Camozzi Road detour. Visitors will find ample signage directing vehicles to our newly constructed lots, with overflow parking available on the north side of the village just off Mountain Road (P4).
Our transit stop, visitor drop-off, and accessible parking are located on the north side of the village entrance just off Guest Services.
Staff Housing
Staff Housing is starting to take shape. Once completed, this three-phase project will add 480 beds to our staff accommodation offerings. Below is an outline of the scope of each phase and recent milestones.
Building 1:
- Walls are installed on 6th floor
- Roofing targeted to be complete by the end of July
- Anticipated phased occupancy starting December 2024
Building 2:
- Foundation work underway
- Framing to begin later this summer
Building 3:
- Approved for development permit
Construction Work force Housing
The temporary prefabricated staff housing is complete. Over the past six months our team completed the installation of these units on building site #3 of the Staff Housing Project. The units provide much-needed accommodation (64 beds) for year-round staff who assist on the various projects occurring around the Resort.
Slopeside Hotel
Construction continues to move along at the Slopeside Hotel. The new draft renderings will give you an idea of how the building will look upon completion. The new hotel will include 154 rooms, conference space, a restaurant, fitness and spa facilities and will be the new home for Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing.
Recent project milestones:
- Roof structure starting on amenities building.
- Parkade is complete.
- Starting 1st floor framing on hotel
Projected completion date is 2026.
Community Water System
The water reservoir at the Maintenance Facility is complete, and pump upgrades are in progress for commissioning. This water system will provide a substantial water supply for fire protection and domestic use for the Resort and Arrow Heights neighbourhoods.
This is a critical piece of community infrastructure for water security, health, and sustainability for the whole community of Revelstoke, and supports the current and future plans for resort neighbourhoods.
Resort Amenity Planning
We are currently in the planning phase to expand our recreation amenities at the resort. This multi-phased expansion will offer a dynamic range of field and racquet facilities for resort guests and homeowners.
Phase 1: Tennis and pickleball courts
Future phases: Playing field space, indoor field house, barbeque and picnic area.
