Internship Opportunities
Revelstoke Mountain Resort is proud to partner with Educating Adventures and Snowminds to offer Instructor Internship Programs in Revelstoke.
Educating Adventures
In conjunction with Revelstoke Mountain Resort, the Educating Adventures (EA) Ski and Snowboard program offers an early season training and certification camp followed by an instructor position. This rare opportunity to become an instructor with Revelstoke Mountain Resort's Mountain Sports School before Christmas is by application only. There are limited positions available each season.
Package options include everything you need to become an instructor and enjoy the ultimate winter including accommodation, training, industry membership, materials, Level 1 exam, on-ground support (including airport pick-up and city orientation), social events, continued training towards Level 2, first aid, avalanche skills training and backcountry opportunities, as well as professional development opportunities. This program begins in late November and runs through the end of the winter season.
Owen Davies - Intern Grad“I was looking for a ski program when I left school, but none offered a work internship. EA was my best chance of not only having lots of fun, but also getting a job and earning some money.”
Snowminds
In close partnership with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance and renowned ski schools like Revelstoke Mountain Resort's Mountain Sports School, Snowminds offers you the opportunity to become a ski or snowboard instructor in Canada. As a company built by former ski instructors, the work we do is highly personal for us and we have successfully trained more than 4500 ski and snowboard instructors worldwide since we started in 2012. If you have a passion for snow, we hope to get to know you and help make the next adventure one that stays with you for life.
The Instructor Course
You will receive a Level 1 and 2 comprehensive training program with a careful focus on your technique and development both on and off-piste. Your experienced coaches will work with you individually to improve your understanding of different terrain, mountain safety, and everything else you need to learn to become a competent instructor. The course then culminates with you becoming a Canadian certified Level 1 instructor with a job guarantee and you will start working in time for the busy Christmas Holiday period. After that, you will start training towards your Level 2 and the training will be planned around your work schedule together with the ski school.
Job Guarantee
After the successful completion of the Level 1 training program, you will be enrolled as a ski instructor intern at the Revelstoke Mountain Sports School. In this role, you will get to work a full Canadian winter season in what we humbly consider to be the world's best job. Of course, you will have to work hard to achieve your qualification, but we will support you all the way!
How
Everyone with basic ski or snowboard skills can become an instructor. The most important thing is that you have the motivation. When you apply for Snowminds, we will first call you for an interview where you can hear more about Snowminds, what to expect from the experience and to make sure your profile fits with Revelstoke Mountain Resort's standards.
Heli-skiing Camp
During the winter season, there is a fantastic opportunity for you to try heli-skiing. Snowminds instructors from all different resorts travel to Revelstoke to have an experience of a life-time within a unique community. Together with Selkirk-Tangiers, we have created a camp where you get to experience some of the best freeride skiing in Canada. Before the actual heli-skiing experience, you will get two days of freeride training by our local coaches. Read more about the Heli-skiing camp here.
Freeride Course
If you are more interested in the backcountry and would like to spend a winter exploring that rather than teach skiing, we've created the ultimate Freeride Course along with the Revelstoke Mountain Sports School. For a total of 10 weeks, you will follow a training program that will take your freeride skiing and knowledge about mountain terrain, avalanche hazards, first aid, and much more to a completely new level. You can read more details about the course here.
The first step is to send us an email and get the conversation started. We look forward to hearing from you.
